National Grid has partnered with the YMCA of Central New York with a premiere sponsorship investment of $75,000 to support Y programming and services in Onondaga County.
This donation, which has the option to renew yearly, will be used to support the Y’s programming in youth development and education, as well as developing our community workforce and wellness through lifeguard and mental health training. National Grid will also be supporting employee resource groups and participating in outreach through the YMCA CNY Race Weekend and Days of Service.
The YMCA of Central New York has a wide variety of youth development programs based around education, including Youth and Government, Y Achievers (college and career exploration), Power Scholars (literacy and math instruction). We are also working on bringing forward the “Y on the Fly” in 2023, a mobile unit to bring the Y into more neighborhoods around Onondaga County.
“Great partnerships create a bigger impact for the community we serve,” said Mariella Canady-Towns, Chief Philanthropy Officer for the YMCA of Central New York. “We are thankful for National Grid’s partnership and investment in our community. Organizations like National Grid allow the YMCA of Central New York to provide even more programming and services for our entire county and city.”
National Grid is committed to supporting and engaging non-profit organizations that take ownership for implementing educational and environmental programs and solutions. These partnerships help build stronger communities -- the important first step in transforming individuals, neighborhoods, cities, and, ultimately, our planet.
“Programs like Y Achievers and Power Scholars are shaping the next generation of leaders of the Central New York community,” said Alberto Bianchetti, National Grid’s regional director of customer and community engagement. “Supporting the Y is a down payment on the future of this region and the new heights we can reach together.
