The Board of Directors of the YMCA of Central New York has kicked off a special fundraising campaign to “Close the Gap” and raise $500K in support for the programs and services of the Y. The campaign will run until December 15th.
“It has been said that "It is in the giving that we receive." The YMCA of CNY is an amazing organization that positively impacts thousands of children and families annually,” shared Bishop Colette Matthews-Carter, Chief Volunteer Officer and Board Chair. “Our mission includes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility which are the cornerstones of our work. We are grateful for the continued support of our Board and community stakeholders in furthering our mission. The Close the Gap Campaign is not only an opportunity to advance our work but also a way to give opportunities to future generations. In return we all receive the assurance of new possibilities and the transformative nature of hope.”
Like many nonprofit agencies locally and nationwide, the YMCA of Central New York has found a gap in the services communities are looking for, rising costs to deliver this programming, and a reduction in donations to support those needs.
Donations to the YMCA of Central New York go to support financial assistance for members and increased access to a wide range of programming including delivery of life-saving water safety skills, child care, support for seniors, strength for cancer survivors, leadership development for young people, a place to come together as community, and so much more.
Members of the Board of Directors will be reaching out personally to their communities through a variety of methods to raise awareness of the work of the Y and help close the funding gap.
“We express our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated board for their unwavering commitment to the noble art of fundraising,” shared Mariella Canady-Towns, Chief Philanthropy Officer for the YMCA of Central New York. “Their passion, dedication, and tireless efforts are the driving force behind our mission's success, and we, at the Y, are deeply thankful for their enduring support in creating positive change. Donations aren't just a gift; it's a catalyst for change. Each contribution not only touches individual lives but also weaves a tapestry of hope that strengthens communities and transforms futures. Every contribution is a step toward brighter futures and stronger communities.”
